Research Poster Sessions
The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) is proud to host the Research Poster Sessions at this year’s Annual Conference! This event provides dental hygiene researchers and educators the opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas and share information and effective strategies for teaching and mentoring research with their colleagues and dental hygienists from various settings.
Selected participants will have their poster research published in the Journal for Dental Hygiene (JDH).
The deadline for the Research Poster Sessions has now passed. If you have any questions please contact LindsayL@adha.net
GSK/ADHA Virtual Undergraduate Student Research Competition
After much consideration GSK and ADHA have decided to move the Undergraduate Student Research Competition Virtually. This decision was made based on the responses that were received informing us of the travel bans that are in place for many of the participating dental programs.
The deadline to submit for this competition will remain Friday, April 16, 2021. There are two categories that students can present a virtual poster for in the competition: Research (original research) or Informative (non-original research).
For each judged category, awards will be given to first, second and third place winners. These winners will receive a certificate along with a cash prize and matching monetary grant for their school. An Honorable Mention Certificate is also awarded to those who place in forth place.
Virtual Research Poster (Original Research) – The Research Poster Presentations give students the opportunity to show off the original research that they have done during their undergraduate career. This is a competition and will be both judged and scored. First, second and third place will be awarded, in addition to an honorable mention. For more details, click here.
Virtual Informative Poster (Non-Original Research) – The Informative Poster Presentation gives students the opportunity to raise awareness about a theory, service or trend in dental hygiene practice. This is a competition and will be both judged and scored. First, second and third place will be awarded, in addition to an honorable mention. For more details, click here.
In addition to participating in the Virtual Competition, each student presenter will be able to:
Showcase your hard work in the Virtual Viewing of Poster Presentations alongside fellow students.

Dentsply/Sirona ADHA Virtual Graduate Student Clinician’s Research Program
After much consideration Dentsply Sirona and ADHA have decided to move the Graduate Student Clinicians Research Program to the ADHA 2021 Virtual Annual Conference. This decision was made based on the responses that were received informing us of the travel bans that are in place for many of the participating dental programs. Just as before the director of each graduate dental hygiene program may identify one student to participate. The selected student must present their research in a standard scientific poster in the format of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR).
Because this decision was made after the submission deadline, we have decided to extend that date to Friday, April 2nd, 2021.
Up to 18 recipients will be selected to participate in this year’s Program. Recipients will receive the following:
- Certificate of participation
- $1000 cash award for first-place winner
- Travel expenses for the first-place winner to attend the 2022 AADR Annual Conference, where they will present their winning submission during the Student Clinician Award Program
- $500 cash award for second place winner
- $250 cash award for third place winner
